Radiation Shielding Studies with New Generation Materials

Radiation shielding technologies play a critical role in a wide range of areas from nuclear engineering to medical imaging. Today, instead of traditional lead-based materials, new generation materials that stand out with their environmental and mechanical advantages are being developed and researched. In this workshop, the radiation shielding performances of innovative materials such as borate and telluride-based glasses, high entropy alloys (HEA) and HEA-doped glasses will be discussed. In addition, topics such as the interaction of radiation with matter, basic shielding parameters, and calculation methods will be discussed, and the most recent developments in this field will be conveyed to the participants. The workshop is aimed at undergraduate and graduate students, and especially appeals to young researchers working in the fields of physics, materials science and nuclear engineering.
